DANSK MØBEL とは、デンマーク語で、「DANSK（ダンスク）＝デンマークの」「MØBEL（ムーベル）＝家具」と言う意味です。
㈱KEIZO代表の砂原啓三が、各方面でご活躍される方々に、現在お使いのデンマーク家具についてインタビューした「MY DANSK MØBEL」の連載をご紹介させていただいております（過去の連載はこちらをご覧くださいませ）。
今回はデンマークを代表するテキスタイルメーカー、Kvadrat社のFrederik Moller（フレデリック・ムラー）さんです。
■お持ちのデンマーク家具を教えてください。
(May I ask if you have any Danish furniture in your home?)
Yes, I have a lot of Danish furniture in my home. In Denmark people spend a lot of time in their homes, and often open their homes to guests. Interior has great importance to many Danes. People are often judged on how they live, not by what car they drive or clothes they wear.
自宅には多くのデンマーク家具があります。デンマークでは家の中で過ごす時間が長く、よくゲストを招いたりもしますのでインテリアの重要性は高いです。高級車やブランド品などではなく、どのような暮らしをしているかに豊かさを見出します。
■購入のエピソードなどあればお聞かせください。
(Do you have any interesting stories to share about that furniture?)
Yes, I once was naked with 3 girls in the same chair. It was very emotional moment for me.
Just kiddiiiiiiing. Almost every piece has a good story actually, which makes the furniture more valuable to us. Especially the pieces in natural leather show their own story, and also wooden furniture ages nicely.
素敵な女性達と一緒に座ったひと時を過ごし。。。と言うのは冗談ですが、どの家具も大切なストーリーがあり特別な価値を感じます。特にナチュラルレザー（ヌメ革）の変化や木製家具のエイジングは素晴らしいですね。
Our Essay table is a prototype. When it was developed, we lived in Singapore. So a smaple was sent to us in Ash, to see how it was coping with humidity, with a mechanical device underneath. After one year, the table passed the test, and we go to keep the table. We still have it, 12 years later on, and it looks as beautiful as ever.
例えばフリッツハンセンのEssay™テーブルの試作品を使っているのですが、当時シンガポールに住んでおり、サンプルとしてアッシュ材で作られ湿度の高い気候から試験機器を下に取り付けて、実際に使用しながら経過を見ていました。試験をクリアした後もそのテーブルを使い続け、今では１２年経ちますが現在では美しく経年変化をしています。
Our 3107 in natural leather are also more than 10 years old. They are very stained, and shows active life. Some stains from dinners with good friends, some stains from our son when he was a baby, spilling oatmeal all over the place.
My personal favorite is PK91 natural leather. I bought it almost 20 years ago, and it is the best example in a minimal (and affordable) size, of Poul Kjærholm’s special deisgn language and use of materials. It looks great in any type of context, old or new home.
また、同じくフリッツハンセンのセブンチェアのナチュラルレザー張りのものを１０年以上使っています。ステインが沢山ついていますが、それも幸せの痕跡だと思っています。あるステインは仲の良い友達とのディナーの時に、他にも息子がまだ小さかった時にオートミールを吹き出した時ものもあり、そんな思い出がよみがえります。
■デンマーク家具のどんな点がお気に入りですか？
(What do you love about Danish furniture?)
I am not in love with all of them. But there are a number of fantastic pieces, which epitomize the best of Danish furniture design and also craftsmanship. I like the timeless and lasting pieces. Furniture which has a useful function/comfort, is beautiful to look at, and is so simple you never really get tired of them. They do not follow fashion or trends, but adhere to design principles, and also a certain philosophy of life. I have several pieces I inherited from my parents. Amongst them 2 x Spanish Chair by Børge Mogensen. My parents got one each as their wedding present in 1969, before I was born. They passed the chairs on to me, and I will pass them on to our son, once he is old enough to understand and appreciate.
もちろん全てが大好きというわけではありませんが、いくつかの家具は間違いなく素晴らしいデンマークデザインと職人の技術を物語っています。機能性があり快適でデザインも普遍的な家具が好きですが、どれもシンプルです。決してファッションのトレンドのようなものではなく、デザインの原則や人生の哲学を遵守しています。両親から受け継いだ家具もあります。ボーエ・モーエンセンのスパニッシュチェアです。これは私が生まれる前に、両親が結婚した1969年に手に入れたものです。私もいつか息子が十分理解し感謝できるようになったら、このチェアを譲りたいと思っています。
■次に欲しいデンマーク家具などあれば教えてください。
(Which furniture would you like to have next?)
My dream chair is the Bear Chair by Wegner. I have sat in many chairs, and this is the best lounge chair ever made. Unfortunately it is also the most expensive one. So I will never become owner, because I do not play Lottery or go to Casino. But it is my favorite chair. You can sit comfortably and fall asleep with a newspaper, with grandchildren running all over the place…
私の憧れはハンス・J・ウェグナーのベアチェアです。これまで多くのチェアに座ってきましたが、こんなにも座り心地の良い椅子はありません。残念ながら宝くじを買わないですし、カジノにも行かないので、非常に高価なこのチェアを手に入れられず、まだベアオーナーにはなれていません。
でもこの椅子の魅力は変わりません。例えばいつか孫が元気に遊んでいるそばで、新聞を読みながらこの椅子が気持ちよくて眠ってしまうなんて日が。。

ムラ―氏は私（砂原）の前職、フリッツハンセン日本支社時代の上司です。
当時はデンマークにある彼のサマーハウスにも度々宿泊させてもらいデンマークの楽しい夏を経験しました。
